I hate to put it this way, but Washington Redskins fullback Eric Kettani is a better person than all of us. Kettani, who played college football for the Navy, has received a recent promotion. During a ceremony at the team’s practice facility that was attended by his teammates and coaches, Kettani was promoted to Lieutenant.
“It’s an honor for me,” Kettani said, according to CSNWashington.com. “On weekends last month I was at the Pentagon doing some reserve stuff and then playing football. It’s hard to do. But this is what I signed up for.”
Kettani really let the Redskins be a part of the ceremony, when he chose his father, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and Redskins running backs coach Bobby Turner to pin on his lieutenant bars. As you would expect, it was an honor for all involved.
“I’ve had guys in the military, but not a lieutenant,” Shanahan said. “I have to salute to him now. He’s a great representative for our country.”
Kettani is one of the rare men in the league who is serving a bigger cause, so he deserves all of the attention that is coming his way.
