At Missouri, Dixon averaged 13.5 points per game as a junior during the 2011-2012 season, but was later suspended in October before the 2012-2013 season. News later came out that Dixon was accused twice of sexual assault while on Missouri’s campus by a woman who worked in the athletics department when he was a freshman and again in the summer of his senior year.
Because of all these allegations, Dixon was kicked off the team by head coach Frank Haith. Dixon however was never charged with a crime.
Dixon never charged was one of the biggest reasons head coach of the Memphis Tigers, Josh Pastner, felt comfortable accepting a commitment from him.
At Memphis, Dixion will apply for a waiver that will enable him to play immediately for the Memphis Tigers. However he could run into some legal trouble with the NCAA since he was still enrolled at Missouri, even though he didn’t play the entire 2012-2013 season.
Dixon will join an already strong backcourt headlined by Joe Jackson, Geron Johnson and Chris Crawford. He’ll however will most likely come off the bench for the Tigers, but he’ll be used to it as he was the sixth man for Missouri.
