Louisville Becomes First School in History to Make BCS Bowl, Final Four and College World Series in Same Year
By Josh Sanchez
Man, it is a great year to be on one of the University of Louisville athletic teams. On Sunday, the Louisville Cardinals baseball team (who happens to have some incredible uniforms thanks to adidas) completed a sweep of No. 2 overall seed Vanderbilt to advance to the College World Series. It is only the second time in the school’s history that they have made the College World Series, but it is just the latest achievement in a long list of accomplishments that Louisville has reached in the past year.
Not only have they advanced to the CWS, but they won the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and their football team led by one of the best quarterbacks in the nation won the Sugar Bowl.
With those three accomplishments, Louisville becomes the first school in NCAA history to reach a BCS bowl, Final Four and College World Series in the same year.
How’s that for domination?
That doesn’t even include the fact that their women’s basketball team made it all the way to the title game and that their men’s soccer team reached the Soccer Elite 8.
It’s been a highly impressive year for Louisville and their accomplishments on the playing field have shown that. Their athletes should be very proud of their accomplishments this year and continue to build on the great thing they have going with Louisville athletics.
