NBA Trade Rumors — It seems that the blockbuster deal between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers could fall through. Even though Doc Rivers was to be part of the original deal and would end up coaching the Clippers if it does go down, it’s not ruled out that he could return to the Celtics next season.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics have been very clear with Rivers that if the deal does not get done, they want him back for next season.

And that seems like the most probable outcome right now. The deal-breaker at this point is the inclusion of Eric Bledsoe, who the Clippers want to package into other deals.

If the Clippers could somehow get this deal done and keep Bledsoe, they could package the young point guard together with an expiring contract of Caron Butler and look to further enhance the roster. One thing that seems certain right now is that Bledsoe will not be dealt before free agency, as L.A. would keep Bledsoe around if Chris Paul was to sign with another team this summer.

With all of that in consideration, it’s hard to imagine the two teams coming to an agreement. While Rivers would still be the Clippers’ No. 1 option if he became available, the Clippers are already considering Brian Shaw and Lionel Hollins for the head coaching job.
