The Los Angeles Lakers continue to hope to keep Dwight Howard this summer, but if he does decide to leave, the team is not ruling out a sign-and-trade, not even if it involves the Los Angeles Clippers.

A little crazy rumor that has been floating is that Chris Paul and Howard want to team up next season, and, theoretically, the two superstars could do so with the Clippers.

The rumor is that the Clippers could offer Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe for Howard, something that a lot of people have said would never happen, if only because of the fact that the two franchises happen to be located in the same city. According to ESPN, the Lakers would still entertain the offer:

"One source with knowledge of the Lakers’ thinking said Saturday that any suggestion they could not philosophically allow themselves to make a major trade with the Clippers was “overblown.” If the Clippers do indeed decide to formally offer Griffin and Bledsoe in a sign-and-trade package for Howard, indications are that it’s a proposal the Lakers will certainly not dismiss outright."

Now, whether the Clippers are as open-minded as the Lakers is another question. Some reports have said that Griffin is untouchable, which would dismiss the possibility of this already hypothetical trade. Still, the Lakers are willing to consider every option, although they would most likely cut their losses and move on if Howard decided to leave.
