We are smack dab in the middle of NBA trade rumors season with the NBA draft rapidly approaching. The latest nugget of trade rumors pertains to the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves as they are reportedly talking a trade for MarShon Brooks.

Conventional wisdom says the Nets believe Brooks is expendable at this point as the team searches for a quality backup behind star point guard Deron Williams. That’s exactly what Rotoworld believes as it expanded on the trade rumors:

"One source said that the talks haven’t yet become “serious,” but a second source said the Nets have made an offer which the Wolves need only accept. Presumably the Nets would try to acquire a PG to support Deron Williams, since current backup C.J. Watson is expected to opt for free agency"

The report goes on to state that the team has also shown interest in forward Andrei Kirilenko, but at this point in time the only known quantity of a potential deal is Brooks.

Brooks acted as the backup to Joe Johnson a season ago and failed to have a major impact. He has some potential to develop but at this point the Nets seem comfortable moving him for an unknown package.

Stay tuned as this one develops between the Nets and Timberwolves.
