Alex Len is a top prospect in the NBA Draft and many believe he could go No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers. But we could end up getting a situation not unlike that of Jan Veselý who’s girlfriend ended up being a bigger talker than is selection in the draft. While Len looks to have a bright future in the NBA as a big man, his girlfriend Essence Townsend could likely beat him in a game of one-on-one.
Townsend is a senior at Maryland and happens to be a 6-foot-7 star on the women’s basketball team. They make a natural couple in that they’re both basketball players but they literally take that relationship to a whole different level in that Essence is nearly as tall as Len and she’s taller than NBA legend Michael Jordan.
Plus, if the height factor wasn’t enough for you, as Nick Schawrtz from FTW points out, they apparently have a really romantic relationship that started as if it were straight out of some sappy romantic comedy film.
After reading through Alex Prewitt’s profile of their relationship, it sounds like Len and Townsend couldn’t be more in love with one another and their college campus romance has blossomed into what looks to be filled with love and professional basketball. There’s a good chance Essence makes it to the WNBA and Len is a lock for the top 5 in the NBA Draft.
So while basketball fans are glued to their televisions to watch the draft tonight, there is an underlying story to one of the top prospects that everyone can appreciate.
