NBA Draft 2013: Philadelphia 76ers Select Glen Rice Jr.
By Josh Hill
The Philadelphia 76ers pulled off a great trade in the first round which landed them not only Nerlens Noel, a guy who many thought would have been a No. 1 overall pick, but they snagged hung onto their 11th overall pick as well and picked up some more help. They went big again with a D-League star in Glen Rice Jr.
Philly took Rice Jr. with the 35th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.
He has the ability level to be a guy that can make the team and his athleticism and his wing span is very impressive. He can rebound like some of the best and has potential through the roof. But he has his off-court issues that have sunk his value and caused teams to pull off of pursuing him in the draft. He was kicked off the team at Georgia Tech and was forced to head to the D-League in order to clear his reputation and try to make a name for himself.
The Sixers didn’t hang onto him long though as they flipped him almost immediately to the Washington Wizards where Rice may end up fitting in better into the lineup there.
Either way he has great potential and if he can keep his head on right, he’ll be a great asset to the Wizards.
