The Portland Trailblazers do not have a need for point guard Eric Maynor now that the team has C.J. McCollum on deck via the NBA draft, meaning Maynor is now a part of the 2013 NBA free agency class and is free to sign with any team.

That team may end up being the Washington Wizards.

According to Michael Lee of The Washington Post, the Wizards have had some contact with Maynor since the opening gun of free agency:

Last season with Portland, Maynor did a nice job of turning his career around after an ACL injury. He averaged almost seven points and four assists per game in spot-duty.

While he only played in 37 games last season, Maynor showed he was getting back to his normal self after the serious knee injury. He’s a smart fit for the Wizards, a team in need of quality depth and solid rotational players such as Maynor.

It’s unknown how strong the interest is from the Wizards at the moment, but it’s a smart decision by the front office to at least check in on Maynor.
