MLB: Kansas City Royals Beat Oakland Athletics 4-3
By Stu White
With two outs and the bases loaded in the eighth inning of Saturday’s game against the Oakland Athletics, Jarrod Dyson of the Kansas City Royals hit an infield single that drove in what proved to be the winning run. The Royals are now 41-43 on the year; the Athletics are 51-37.
Dyson went into today’s game in an 0-11 slump, but he was able to rack up three hits in the win. Dyson discussed his team’s attitude after the game:
"Sometimes games aren’t going to go our way, but we aren’t going to hang our heads. We’re going to keep battling. You can see it in here, see it out there. Everybody is working hard every day."
Mike Moustakas hit a home run for the Royals in the fourth inning. It was his sixth home run of the season so far. Aaron Crow won the game for the Royals to improve his season mark to 6-3. Ace closer Greg Holland came in and shut the Athletics down in the ninth inning for his 20th save of the season.
Oakland manager Bob Melvin was understandably displeased after the loss, especially with regards to the three errors recorded by his team:
"That was a very poor game. The way we started and the way we ended. A very bad game for us."
