Matt Garza is still the hottest name when it comes to MLB trade rumors, and that has done nothing but intensify after the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers came close to a deal for the ace pitcher.

Apparently the deal fell through at the last second as the Rangers were worried about the players they were getting in return for Garza. Now, CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman says via Twitter a potential deal could go either way:

Heyman’s report was further backed up by MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan, who says there is now no known timetable for a deal:

"The Rangers attempt to acquire pitcher Matt Garza is not over. The latest word from Major League sources is the deal is “possible but no timetable.” All the usual names presumably remain in play although it’s hard to dicepher fact from rumor. But the deal is not dead at lunch time during the Feast of Margaret the Virgin."

Even Garza himself has to be sick of this by now. A deal is going to happen, but news struck prematurely with the two sides still ironing out the details.

Expect Garza to be moved soon. Also, don’t expect anyone but the Rangers to land his services.
