With the MLB trade deadline rapidly approaching, you have to wonder if the Miami Marlins are once again prepared to unload any talent they have in an effort to cut save some dollars. Because of their history of making moves that seem to benefit the other team involved in the trades, it makes sense that teams are calling about relief pitchers Steve Cishek and Mike Dunn.
However, the Marlins are reportedly unwilling to part ways with the relievers.
From Danny Knobler of CBS:
Teams still asking Marlins about Cishek, Dunn. Marlins still telling them neither available. Tigers, others, would have interest in Cishek.

While the Marlins may be denying that the two pitchers are available, it wouldn’t be a surprise if something came to fruition before the deadline at the end of the month. If could all be a game that the team is playing in order to generate even more interest and provide a little boost to the asking price for each pitcher.
Miami is far from being a contender, so they could cash in now on the talent that they do have and see if they would be able to get a haul in return for Cishek and Dunn.
