The Kansas City Royals are in the middle of a nice run in the America League Central division and this alone allowed the team to attempt a variety of trades leading up to the MLB trade deadline.

While the Royals were somewhat active before the deadline it appears the powers that be are planning on being just as active during the August trade and waiver market.

Dick Kaegel of MLB.com has the report:

"“Our players have put us in a position where we have an opportunity to be in a pennant race in the final two months of the season, so we’re going to continue to push forward and do everything we can to give our baseball team and our fans something to play for,” Moore said. The Royals shed a five-game losing streak that carried them into the All-Star break and emerged by going 9-2 up to the Trade Deadline, pushing one game over .500 with Tuesday’s 7-2 win over the Twins."

Believe it or not the Royals are in a strong position to make a run here after the deadline. Strong pitching has been the major component of the run so far, so a safe bet on the trade and waiver market would be Kansas City trying to find some hitting help.

Stay tuned. The Royals are certainly not the only team banking on finding help down the stretch from the waiver market.
