While the Green Bay Packers are expected to receive bad news about their starting left tackle Bryan Bulaga, it looks like the team could be preparing to bolster the quarterback depth now that Aaron Rodgers’ blindside protector could be lost for the entire 2013-14 NFL season.
According to a Green Bay Press-Gazette report late Sunday night, the Packers will be working out former No. 3 overall pick Vince Young on Monday.
Young has not had a job in the NFL since being released by the Buffalo Bills just over one year ago.
No one quite understands why the Packers are showing any interest in Young or if they would even actually ink him to a contract, but this can’t be good news for current signal-callers B.J. Coleman and Graham Harrell, who are competing for the opportunity to be Rodgers’ primary back up.
If the team is actually considering signing the former two-time Pro Bowler despite the poor touchdown/interception ratio that he has had throughout his NFL career, it could mean that they have absolutely no confidence in their current set of back ups and they are hoping to find a player that they have some trust in for any unpredictable turn that could come later on this season.
