Michael Carter-Williams was told he would be floor general by Thaddeus Young
By David Miniel
According to CSN Philly, Thaddeus Young sent a text message to rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams telling him he’ll be the floor general for the 76ers this season.
"“The first text I sent to MCW (Michael Carter-Williams), was ‘The ball is going to be in your hands with you being the point guard and floor general. You are going to take the blame for a lot of stuff, I am going to try and help you, I’ll say it was my fault because that’s what veterans do’ — They try and keep the young guys’ bad thoughts out of their head. You say it was my fault and then go to them and say, ‘Try and do it this way and that will be the right way.’ I am going to try and help him as much as possible.” Forward Thaddeus Young told CSN Philly."
Young sounds like a teammate you want to play for, a guy who will cover for you, knowing you were wrong about a decision. As a rookie going into the league, starting right off the bat for a franchise could be intimidating, so mistakes will be made as pressure is all on you, especially if you are a point guard.
The 76ers are going to have to come up with some interesting lineups that could include Evan Turner at shooting guard, Thaddeus Young at small forward from time to time.
This could be a perfect learning season for Carter-Williams with the help Young is going to help him out.
We will just have to wait and see.
