The Cincinnati Bengals have signed free agent offensive guard Otis Hudson. The 6-5, 320-pound Hudson rejoins the Bengals after spending his entire 3-year NFL career with them, most of which have been on the practice squad. The Bengals were in desperate need of some bodies on the offensive line.
Pro Bowl left tackle Andrew Whitworth is out for time being as he continues to work his way back into game shape after offseason knee surgery. Tackle/guard Tanner Hawkinson is out indefinitely with an ankle injury. Rookie OT Reid Fragel (knee) and starting left guard Clint Boling (knee) are also out.
Hudson is a former fifth-round pick from the 2010 NFL draft, but never played a game in the NFL as he spent the next three years bouncing back-and-forth between the practice squad, the 53-man roster as a gameday inactive.
In 2012, Hudson played in all four preseason games before he was waived on Aug. 31, and signed Sept. 1 to the Bengals practice squad. The Bengals opted not to sign him to the offseason roster once the season ended, and he’s since been a free agent.
