New York Mets manager Terry Collins admitted yesterday that there is a chance that Mets third baseman David Wright may not play again this season.
Wright was expected to miss only 3-5 weeks, but is dealing with a significant injury and does not have a timetable to resume baseball activities.
"“There’s nothing etched in stone. If he gets back, tremendous. That means the healing process and all the rehab stuff wil work. But there is absolutely no time table at all” Terry Collins said in an interview"
Wilmer Flores will fill in for Wright at third base and may also see some action at second base as well.
Wright landed on the disabled list last week after playing through a previous hamstring injury that eventually got worse over time, resulting in him possibly missing the remainder of the season.
So instead of taking a couple days off to make sure you are alright, now you may miss the rest of the season. I understand he wants to win, but he can’t help the team win when he is sitting in the dugout unable to play.
