By David Miniel
Last night Josh Reddick connected with three home runs for the Athletics as they beat the Blue Jays 14-6.
Today, Josh Reddick displayed his power once again, as he blasted a pair of home runs today in a 5-4 loss against the Blue Jays.
Reddick entered yesterday’s game with only five home runs on the season, now sits at 10 on the season, hitting five in the last two games he’s appeared in.
Reddick is still hitting .214/.294/.386 on the year with 10 home runs and 45 RBI’s.
Athletics pitcher Sonny Gray made his first Major League start today, allowing four runs, two earned on four hits in six innings.
Gray struck out five batters on the afternoon, while walking three. He gave up a two run bomb to Jose Bautista in the first inning, but got settled and allowed just a pair of unearned runs over the next five frames. He should remain in the rotation after his outing today as he would take the spot that was vacated by Tommy Milone.
His next start will be against the Houston Astros at home on Thursday.
Mark Buehrle had a decent outing today, in a victory of the A’s.
He walked a pair and struck out five on the afternoon. He gave up a two run home run to Reddick in the second inning, then was able to keep the A’s calm until a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. The veteran pitcher will carry a 4.43 ERA into his next start against the Boston Red Sox at home on Thursday.
Jose Bautista launched his 27th home run of the season.
Bautista finished the day 3-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI’s. His two run shot came off of Sonny Gray. He’s batting .269/.364/.519 with 27 home runs and 71 RBI’s this season.
Casey Janssen allowed a solo home run to Josh Reddick, but still managed to pick up his 21st save of the season.
He allowed singles to Alberto Callaspo and Coco Crisp before getting the job done. He’s converted 21 of 23 save chances on the season with an ERA of 2.41.
