The Atlanta Braves have activated catcher Gerald Laird from the 15 day disabled list.

Laird was placed on the disabled list on August 3rd, retroactive to July 26th after having kidney stones removed. He is with the team for their game against the Miami Marlins.

With Laird being activated, the Braves have optioned outfielder Todd Cunningham to Triple-A Gwinnett. Cunningham had two hits in six at bats over his two weeks with the major league club. He will return to Triple-A with a batting line of .279/.357/.352.

Corey Gearrin was placed on the disabled list for Triple-A Gwinnett with right shoulder tendinitis. Gearrin was sent down a month ago but has yet to make an appearance for the Triple-A club. He’s out indefinitely.

Outfielder Reed Johnson has yet to be cleared to run. Johnson has been hitting and throwing for awhile and said that his Achilles has felt much better this past week.

Johnson should be cleared to run soon and activated, able to return to the Atlanta Braves shortly after that.
