After plenty of flirting with the opportunity, it looks like San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Brett Brown will be leaving the Western Conference kings to take over as the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Ian Thomsen of Sports Illustrated has the report:

Some of those close to Brown did not want to see him take the head coaching job in Philadelphia, but he finally realized that chances as a head coach in the NBA don’t come every day and he was wise to jump on the opportunity.

The bad news for Brown, however, is that the 76ers are an awful team.

There will be plenty of growing pains, but if he does well enough with the team they could begin to turn things around by the final year of his contract, which could lead to an extension. Hopefully for Brown, he will get a fair shot to coach out his entire deal as he looks to make something out of nothing in the City of Brotherly Love.
