The Atlanta Braves have placed infielder Tyler Pastornicky on the 15 day disabled list with a torn left ACL according to Mark Bowman on Twitter.

He will undergo season ending surgery to repair the injury sometime soon. Pastornicky suffered the injury as he collided with right fielder Jason Heyward on a play during last nights game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.

The 23 year old was called up on Tuesday to replace Dan Uggla who is set for eye surgery, who could miss anywhere between a month and the rest of the season.

Paul Janish was able to move over to second base following the injury to Pastornicky. The injured second baseman spent most of the season with Triple-A Gwinnett, where he was batting .292/.354/.392 with four home runs in 74 games. With the Braves, he has nine hits which include eight singles and one day in 30 at bats through 20 big league games.

With Pastornicky out, the Braves have purchased the contract of infielder Phil Gosselin from Triple-A Gwinnett. He’s of course taking Pastornicky’s spot on the roster. Gosselin has batted .258/.306/.326 with three hom runs and six steals between Double and Triple-A this season.
