Toronto Blue Jays announcer Dirk Hayhurst was on his way to the Bronx for the Blue Jays game against the New York Yankees, when a wild cab ride provided some incredible excitement to his day. Hayhurst was involved in a hit-and-run accident thanks to his taxi driver and he took to Twitter to let the world know about what was going on.
This is just one of the moments that makes us realize how much we love social media.
Here is Hayhurst’s documentation of the wild incident:
My cab just got into an accident…unreal

Jesus I gotta get out of this cab. Car he hit, now on the side of us on freeway screaming “I’m gonna wreck you! Stop!”

So many laws violated right now. I can’t believe this is really happening….

Taxi 5n57! He has made his getaway and swears “he crazy, is just a scratch”
— Dirk Hayhurst (@TheGarfoose) August 20, 2013
Seriously. I know this is twitter, but I’m not making any of this up. Just swerved off highway, lost the chasing car, cabby says “we safe”
— Dirk Hayhurst (@TheGarfoose) August 20, 2013
In there. I’m safe. Things are okay. Really crazy there for about 5 high speed minutes. Annnnd all for a flat rate of $40.

thought about calling cops, getting out of cab, but, was one of those “if I don’t die, this story is gonna be awesome!” Writers best friend.
— Dirk Hayhurst (@TheGarfoose) August 20, 2013
Best part was when my cabby says, “he mad because some cabbies very bad, give for us all bad reputations” while running a redlight to escape
— Dirk Hayhurst (@TheGarfoose) August 20, 2013
Of course I paid the driver! 2 reasons: 1-he’d run me over if I didn’t. 2-the company is reimbursing me anyway ;-)

You’ve got to love a good old fashioned New York cab ride.
