Carolina Panthers top Baltimore Ravens, 34-27
By Corey Leahy
There were two big plays that happened in tonight’s preseason game between the Carolina Panthers and the Baltimore Ravens. Neither of which came on the offensive side of the ball. There were some other good plays for the Carolina defense against the turnover-prone Baltimore Ravens.
The first was a punt return by specialist Ted Ginn Jr for 74 yards. Long Punt returns are also interesting to see, probably because most are harder to accomplish than a normal kick off return. The next big play happened a little later when Drayton Florence had a pick six for 71 yards on Thursday night.
The other two major defensive plays for the Panthers were a two yard fumble return o a touchdown by Thomas Davis, as well as a 31 yard pick six by D.J Moore, who caught a ball from Tyrod Taylor.
Carolina was able to score 24 unanswered points after Baltimore put the first seven points on the board during the game.
While preseason games may not explain a lot as to how the regular season will play out, we have learned a lot from this game. The Ravens are prone to making simple mistakes, and the Panthers now have the confidence to be able to capitalize on mistakes from their opponent.
