Mexico gains berth to International Championship game with win over Panama
By Corey Leahy
Jorge Romero had a great performance for the team from Tijuana, Mexico tonight against Aguadulce, Panama. Mexico gained a berth to the International Championship game of the little league world series with a 4-2 victory over Panama.
Let’s get back to Jorge Romero’s night. He helped give Mexico the lead in the seventh inning, with a two run home run. He then struck out the last batter for the opposing team, securing a win, and his team’s berth into the championship.
Here’s what Romero had to say on his big hit to ESPN.
"I was just thinking my job was to get a hit and get on base so I could score a run."
And here’s what he said about his pitching performance:
"I was confident we were going to get the out. I had been throwing good fastballs. I knew if I could throw strikes we were going to get him."
The team from Mexico will now face the team from Japan in the International finals of the Little League World Series on Saturday at 12:30 EST. Who do you think will get the win? Let me know in the comments down below.
Due to the rain that happened today, the game between Washington and Connecticut that was scheduled for today will be played on Friday at 3:00 pm EST.
