Yankees beat Blue Jays, 5-3
By Corey Leahy
The New York Yankees have finished their four game series against the Toronto Blue Jays with a sweep. Andy Pettitte helped the Yankees win the game by a score of 5-3. After waiting over three hours to pitch due to a rain delay, Pettitte came ready to play, allowing only four hits all game. He is now 9-9, and has a record of 2-1 in his past three games for the Yankees, only giving up two earned runs during that span.
The Yankees tied the game in the fifth when Curtis Granderson hit a home run to lead off the fifth inning, giving him his fourth of the season. In the sixth inning, we saw Eduardo Nunez hit a two run single, which put the Yankees ahead 4-1, and they never looked back.
The New York Yankees are on a five game winning streak with this win, and have now moved to 68-59 on the year. They currently sit 3.5 games behind Tampa Bay and Oakland in the wildcard rankings.
Lucky for Yankee fans, the team will head to Tampa for a three game series against the Rays, starting on Friday. Hiroki Kuroda (11-8) will take on Chris Archer (6-5) Friday night, with the first pitch coming at 7:10 PM EST as the Bronx Bombers try to gain more momentum as baseball heads into September.
