When New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan pulled one of the worst coaching decisions we have seen in the preseason, potential starting quarterback Mark Sanchez went down with a shoulder injury. Sanchez was injured in the fourth quarter against the New York Giants while playing with the team’s back ups.
Why you would put in your possible starter with the second and third-string offense in a meaningless game is beyond me, but Ryan and the Jets will now face the price.
Sanchez is set to undergo an x-ray on his injured shoulder to see the extent of the damage, but that is the only update we have seen.
In the meantime, Ryan is getting bashed by the New York media, as he should, for the god awful decision and mismanagement he showed during the latest preseason game.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News says that Ryan“took ineptitude and incompetence to new heights with a boneheaded decision.” There are also members of the media that are calling for Ryan’s head after his latest blunder.
It isn’t even the regular season yet and we have a wild circus with the Jets once again.
Add that Sanchez could miss significant time for playing in the fourth quarter of a preseason game with the fact that the rookie quarterback Geno Smith looked abysmal in his first NFL start, and we have a train wreck on our hands.
