The Minnesota Vikings lost defensive tackle Kevin Williams to a knee injury following a low block. That could open up playing time for first-round draft pick Shariff Floyd, his back up. Floyd how ever has been battling his own injury and had a knee procedure. Sources have told USA Today’s Tom Pelissero that Floyd is “100% fine” and available for the season opener if needed.
No word yet on Kevin Williams' injury, but I'm told his backup, 1st-round pick Sharrif Floyd, is "100% fine" after knee procedure. #Vikings

Floyd could play this week if it were a real game. It's not, and #Vikings can't take any chances in light of KW's situation, so he won't.

Floyd is only one week removed from his knee operation and already ready to go. He’ll get at least a couple weeks of reps with the first team ahead of the season opener if Williams MRI turns up a serious knee injury.
Meanwhile, Kevin Williams was upset about the block that led to his injury.
“I was just upset that I’m getting cut 11 years in (the NFL) from a guy who I don’t even know,” Williams said, via the Minnesota Star Tribune. “I figure between the pain and the fact he cut me when I wasn’t looking was my reaction.”
