The Cleveland Browns lost their third preseason game, aka the regular season dress rehearsal, 27-6. Quarterback Brandon Weeden only managed to lead the Browns to three points in 7 possessions during the game and that has fans ready to jump ship and throw in the towel on the season before it even starts.
“I don’t think there’s any reason to push the panic button like a lot of people want to,” Weeden said, via The Plain Dealer. “But we’ve got to learn from it and we’ve got to get better.”
The Cleveland Browns are historically skeptical of their chances of winning after years of disappointment and a lack of success.
“That’s just people being creatures of habit,” he said. “You lose a game and everyone wants to (panic). But the attitude in here has been great all day, so it’s not in this room. We’re excited. We saw the mistakes, but they’re all fixable. This locker room is excited. That one’s behind us and now we’re looking forward to Chicago (Thursday) and it’s going to be here before we know it.”
The key is to not get to emotional and swing from one extreme to the other.
“It’s never as good and never as bad as you think it is,” Weeden said. “We missed some opportunities. Momentum is so big offensively and we couldn’t get anything going. It’s tough when you get in third and long situations. We made it tougher on ourselves.”
