New York Jets veteran quarterback Mark Sanchez suffered an unfortunate shoulder injury during the team’s third preseason game of the year, after head coach Rex Ryan inexplicably put him in to the game with a back ups during the fourth quarter of the game.
Sanchez was diagnosed with a bruised shoulder joint after the game and he is considered day-to-day.
With the regular season a week from tomorrow, there is still no word on whether or not Sanchez will be ready for the start of the season.
From Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News:
I'm told next 7 days will be critical for Sanchez, who has bruise on throwing shoulder. Too early to definitively say if he'll be ready Wk 1

If Sanchez is healthy, there is still a possibility that he will get the start in the team’s season opener. If he is forced to miss the game, rookie Geno Smith will get thrown into the fire.
