According to CSN Philly’s Rueben Frank, Philadelphia Eagles 2011 first round draft pick Danny Watkins’ playing days are over.

Frank believes the 23rd overall draft pick’s heart was never in football and thinks Watkins doesn’t like playing the game. Reporters always go out on a limb when they question a players heart. But I guess if they meet players in the locker room after practices or games, they get to know them pretty well.

Watkins was released by the Philadelphia Eagles earlier today. Head coach Chip Kelly spoke out on Watkins in an interview saying:

"“There is always some really good out of Danny, but there is also some mistakes out of Danny. It’s going to be a battle.” Chip Kelly told NewJersey.com"

It’s always disappointing when a player who has so much potential in this league, just gives up and accepts defeat. There are players out there who would give anything to have the opportunity Watkins did.

There is still a chance he gets claimed off waivers.
