There has been a shuffle of talent in the league. And with this shuffle, I think it’s safe to say there will be new faces in the playoffs this upcoming season. I want to look at three teams that, based on their off season, would be failures if they don’t make the playoffs.

First, the Washington Wizards.

Last season, people thought they would make it, until John Wall went down for most of the season with a knee injury. When he came back, our initial thoughts were confirmed: The Wizards could have made the playoffs if healthy. Welp, this season they look to be better on paper. They maxed out John Wall so that means they are all in with this guy. They have to make the playoffs. It’s a health thing for these guys but I think they can slip in. Highest they go is sixth seed though.

Next are the Detroit Pistons. Here’s a team that got an upgrade of talent. Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings are a nice combo. Greg Monroe is expected to be a monster. I like the make up of the team and I expect them to make the playoffs in the 4-6th seeding. Jennings will have to improve his shooting. I mean, everything about shooting: Selection, percentage, efficiency, every thing. I wonder if anybody can score on them in the paint. Monroe and Smith aren’t going to make things easy. Andre Drummond is lurking on the bench.

Lastly, I fully expect the Minnesota Timberwolves to make it. Finally. Yes, the West is tough, but the T-Wolves are tough too. They remind me of the Wizards. Injuries kept them from reaching their full potential. But, if these guys stay healthy, they definitely have a shot at the playoffs. Not sure how far they would go once there and I can’t even tell you where they would be seeded. But they’ll be in talks until April. Plus, a team with “Dante” on it can’t be all bad, right? I’m full of myself today.

Anyway, you agree with the list? Got other teams that would make it before any of the teams here? Hit those comments, y’all!
