Harper, a 2013 4th round pick by the Seattle Seahawks, was currently signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad, but reportedly will now travel south to join another NFC West rival.
Harper was the 123th overall selection by Seattle back in the 2013 draft. He was waived by the Seahawks after their final preseason game but cleared the waiver process and signed with Seattle’s practice squad. Now, apparently, he’ll take the step up to the 49ers active roster.
In a slight twist of irony, current 49er WR Quinton Patton was selected five spots (128th) after Harper in the draft. Patton was impressive in the preseason for San Francisco and scored a touchdown in each of the 49ers final two games.
The 49ers might have cleared the necessary roster spot to sign Harper when they traded LB Cam Johnson to the Colts.
In his final season last year with Kansas State, Harper finished with 857 yards and three touchdowns. Physically, Harper (6’0, 229 pounds and a 4.50 40 time) reminds scouts of 49ers veteran Anquan Boldin.
