Miguel Cabrera is back out of the lineup
Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera, who returned to the Tigers lineup Tuesday, is back out of the lineup Wednesday.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland told MLive.com Cabrera will miss Wednesday’s game because he is feeling “a little sore.”
Cabrera (abdomen) went 0-for-4 in the Tigers 2-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox Wednesday night.
Don Kelly will take Cabrera’s place at third base and bat sixth. Victor Martinez, a former Red Sox catcher, will be the designated hitter and bat fourth.
Cabrera is having another season for the ages. The 30-year old is batting .355, has an on base percentage of .446 and is slugging .676. He has 43 home runs and 130 RBI. If it wasn’t for the crazy season Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and his crazy season (47 home runs), Cabrera would likely win the Triple Crown for the second consecutive season.
The Tigers fell to 1.5 games behind the Red Sox with their loss last night. They will send Rick Porcello (11-7, 4.44 ERA) to the hill against Ryan Dempster (7-9, 4.75 ERA) in the rubber game Wednesday night. First pitch from Fenway Park is scheduled for 7:10 pm EST and the game can be seen on ESPN.
