The Houston Texans had a tight positional battle behind starting quarterback Matt Schaub, as T.J. Yates and Case Keenum were in a dead heat throughout the postseason to win the No. 2 job. However, on Thursday afternoon, the team decided that Yates and his experience would be the one to serve as the team’s primary back up.
The team made the announcement official with a simple message on Twitter:

“We’ll go this season with T.J. starting as our two,” Kubiak said. “I couldn’t have made a wrong decision. They both played so well.”
For the Texans, they have to head in to the season confident in their quarterback depth thanks to strong performances by all three signal-callers. There are some teams in the league that only have faith in one of their quarterbacks, so to have three guys that your coaching staff fully believes in is a real blessing.
