When the Denver Broncos host the Baltimore Ravens to kick off the start of the 2013-14 NFL season, there will be a giant billboard standing on the West side of the stadium that encourages marijuana usage.

A group out of group out of Washington D.C. paid $5,000 to have the ad hang, which is really no surprise in a state that has legalized recreational marijuana usage.

“NFL players are being told that they can go out and get completely drunk, but face no punishment from the league,” Mason Tvert, a spokesman for the Marijuana Policy project, said, via USA Today. “But if a player gets caught using marijuana, they could be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars, forced to sit out games and deemed a troublemaker.”

Here is a shot at the billboard that is sitting right outside of Sports Authority Field on the opening night of the NFL season:

When you consider that the team will be without their star defensive player Von Miller for the first six games of the season because of his past marijuana and amphetamine use, you can understand why the people in the area don’t like to see NFL players suspended for lighting up a joint.

As for the team’s executives, perhaps they should have just smoked some weed instead of going out and getting drunk. That would have made the Marijuana Policy project thrilled.
