Jason Hammel will be used as a reliever for the Baltimore Orioles
By David Miniel
After being activated the other day, Jason Hammel will return to the Baltimore Orioles in hopes of helping his team reach the Playoffs.
But as of right now the Orioles plan on bringing Hammel out of the bullpen instead of sticking him in the starting rotation right off the bat.
"“You probably won’t see him physically available until Saturday. In an emergency, maybe Friday. Obviously, he’s pitched well as a starter at times, and for the most part, pitched real well for Colorado out of the pen before we acquired him. So, it’s good to have a couple of ways to go with that.” Orioles manager Buck Showalter told the Baltimore Sun."
It’s always a struggle for professional athletes having to watch their team from either the dugout or at home on TV. If your heart is in the game, you want to be on the field as much as possible.
"“It was tough watching the guys on TV. I want to be there with them. And be able to go through the ups and downs together. But it is what it is right now. So, obviously I know I can help and I just tried to get back as quickly as I could.” Jason Hammel told the Baltimore Sun."
Well now that he’s activated and able to pitch for the Orioles again, he’s going to be able to help his team. If or when he does get placed back into the starting rotation guys like Scott Feldman and Bud Norris could be moved to the bullpen.
Either way, their bullpen will have some depth and a couple arms who can come in and relieve for a couple of innings.
