Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Arthur Jones missed the first game of the season with an undisclosed illness, but now details are emerging and we see how serious Jones’ condition was. While the illness was non-life threatening, Jones was dealing with a viral infection near his heart.
From the Baltimore Sun:
"Jones has been dealing with a viral infection near his heart that initially raised concerns and is now cleared up to the point where he could return to play soon after getting good news from doctors, according to a source.Going forward, there aren’t any serious worries about Jones’ status. However, the team now has to map out a plan to ease Jones back into an exercise and practice regimen and gauge his conditioning after being out since playing in the third preseason game against the Carolina Panthers."
While we don’t have an exact time frame for Jones’ return, he does seem to have received some positive news that has him in good spirits.
“Thank you Lord for the amazing news today,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I don’t know where I would be with out you. 🙂 Thank you everyone who kept me in there prayers. The big man upstairs answered.”
It looks like Jones will be back on the field sooner rather than later, which is great news for the Ravens defense that struggled greatly in Week One.
