Michigan State to start quarterback Connor Cook over Andrew Maxwell
After a week of mind games with the media in East Lansing, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio finally revealed who the Spartans quarterback will be against USF on Saturday.
The Spartans will start redshirt sophomore Connor Cook over second-year starter Andrew Maxwell.
Maxwell was shut down last week by Western Michigan’s secondary. He was 11 of 21 for 74 yards in MSU’s 26-13 win against the Broncos.
Cook wasn’t any better, however. He was 6 of 16 for 42 yards and a 2.6 average.
Cook may not be an upgrade, but he is a breath of fresh air to a Spartans receiving corp that lacks in production.
MSU hosts USF at noon Saturday at Spartan Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
