Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews said that he was ready to hit San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Colin Kaepernick during their match up on Sunday afternoon in Week One of the NFL season.

Matthews delivered on that promise and landed a blatant cheap shot on Kaepernick that sparked a mini brawl on the sideline.

Kaepernick was clearly a few feet out of bounds before Matthews leaped on to his back and drug the 49ers quarterback to the ground. That is when the madness started.

Deadspin posted a few GIFs that show the late hit and ensuing brawl. Check it out below:

After the disregard for the rules and the obvious cheap shot that the Packers delivered to Kaepernick, you can expect to see Clay Matthews getting a letter in the mail with a hefty fine from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

At the time of this post, the 49ers were hanging on to a one touchdown lead, 14-7, with a few seconds to go in the first half.
