Serena Williams is still at the top of the women’s tennis landscape with her win over Victoria Azarenka in the finals of the 2013 U.S. Open women’s singles tournament. For Williams, it was her 17th Grand Slam singles victory of her career.

It was a very even match between the first two sets, but Williams was able to pull away in the third and final set of match to earn the title — 7-6, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1.

Williams and Azarenka had an incredible back and forth match up that gained plenty of attention on social media, despite it being the opening Sunday of the 2013-14 NFL season and their match was an instant classic to follow up last year’s meeting between the two, which was also an incredible outing on it’s own.

This season, Williams has totaled an incredible 67-4 record and won eight tournaments — including the French Open and U.S. Open.

It’s hard to argue that anyone is better in tennis right now and Williams has continuously shown just how dominant she can be.
