Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley was seen at practice yesterday, but he was not practicing. Finley wasn’t on last week’s injury report and he didn’t appear to be injured. That led to speculation that he was just getting an added day of rest.
Later we found out that he was injured during the game and he even traveled to Minnesota for treatment.
From NFL.com:
"NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Finley traveled to Minnesota this week to receive treatment on his injured toe. A source close to the tight end said Finley was hurt early in Sunday’s season opener when San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis stepped on the back of his leg."
Jermichael Finley was already seen back at practice the following day though, and in full pads. That is kind of surprising and a quick turn around. That must mean the injury isn’t that serious, despite the very serious action of traveling out of state to seek treatment.
Good news for fantasy football owners. He was effective in the first game of the season catching 5 passes for 56 yards and one touchdown agains the San Francisco 49ers. This week the Packers will host the Washington Redskins.
The Redskins let Michael Vick pass for 203 yards in the opener and Philadelphia Eagles tight ends Brent Celek and Zach Ertz combined for 3 catches and 67 yards.
