Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley didn’t practice yesterday, instead he walked around on the sidelines. There wasn’t any knowledge then of an injury that was keeping Finley from practice, I even speculated that it could just be a extra day of rest.
Finley didn’t have a lingering injury from before the game because he wasn’t listed on last week’s injury reports. Finley also didn’t appear to be injured in last Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Now we know though that Finley suffered a toe injury when 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis stepped on the back of his leg.
From NFL.com:
"NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Finley traveled to Minnesota this week to receive treatment on his injured toe. A source close to the tight end said Finley was hurt early in Sunday’s season opener when San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis stepped on the back of his leg."
So far it doesn’t seem like this injury will cause Finley to miss Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins. He was effective in the first game of the season catching 5 passes for 56 yards and one touchdown.
