NFL Network’s Albert Breer reported on GameDay Morning that Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is set to get 20-22 carries according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Last week against the San Francisco 49ers he got 14 carries for 41 yards, an average of 2.9 yards per carry. He did score a goal line touchdown and catch one pass out of the backfield for 31 yards as well.

The lack of carries in the week one match up could’ve stemmed from a lack of opportunities in general. While up-tempo offenses are trying to hurry up games to get as many offensive snaps as possible, the Packers struggled to get 58 offensive plays off.

Lacy was benched for a period of time during the first half after fumbling the football. That could account for the drop off in carries as well between last week and McCarthy’s projection this week. Before he fumbled he was used as an every down back. While his performance against the San Francisco 49ers wasn’t ideal for fantasy football owners, he should play better against the Washington Redskins.
