Where the Oakland Raiders will play on October 6th is anyone’s guess at this point. With the Oakland A’s doing so well – they took a 6.5 game lead in the AL West today after sweeping the Rangers in Arlington – it remains to be seen what will be done with the Raiders game against the San Diego Chargers if there is a time conflict.
According to a report from Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area, the teams could switch home dates, with the Chargers playing at home on the 6th and then traveling to Oakland on December 22nd. But, the teams and the NFL have concerns over fans that already purchased tickets and may have travel plans in place to attend the games.
So, now it’s being reported that the Raiders could push for a later start time on the 6th, or move the game to Monday night. The issue surrounds the ability of the Oakland Coliseum to switch over from baseball to football so fast.
Naturally, NBC and ESPN – the broadcasters that hold the rights for Sunday and Monday – would have an issue with that switch.
So, at this point, until the A’s season and seeding in the playoffs is determined, stay tuned to figure out where and when these two teams will be playing. For fans of both teams, not a bad problem to have really if it means a team in the playoffs.
