1. James Starks-RB-Green Bay Packers (2.5%)
Starks is the top waiver-wire pickup after a huge game against the Redskins defense Sunday at Lambeau Field. Starks came in after rookie Eddie Lacy left with a concussion and rushed for 132 yards on 20 carries while scoring a rushing touchdown and adding 36 yards receiving on four catches.
Starks was up against a porous Redskins rush defense but looked impressive enough to at least earn a timeshare when Lacy returns. The Pack like to use a rotation at running back, and Starks’ big game definitely earned him a bigger piece of the cheese-head running attack.
Lacy doesn’t have a history of concussions, but the league policy makes it tricky to come back from one in just a week. Even if he does get cleared, the Packers have a bye in week 4 and may elect to have him rest until after that. If that’s the case or if Lacy can’t get clearance, Starks is a great flex play and even an RB2 as he faces the Bengals D on a short week next Sunday.
