Tampa Bay Rays walk off with a win over the Baltimore Orioles

The Tampa Bay Rays got another huge victory Monday afternoon.

First baseman James Loney hit a walkoff home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rays a 5-4 victory. The Rays now have a one game lead over the Cleveland Indians for the first wildcard spot and lead the Texas Rangers by 2.5 games. The Orioles, who were swept by the Rays are now five games out of the postseason.

The Rays trailed 4-2 in the seventh inning but rookie phenom Will Myers tied the game on a single to right, scoring both Jose Lobaton and Ben Zobrist to tie the game.

Joel Peralta got the win for the Rays while Tommy Hunter took the loss for the Orioles.

Wei-Yin Chen started for the Orioles, but went just 4.1 innings. He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks and struck out four. The Rays countered with Chris Archer, who also went just 4.1 innings. He gave up four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Chris Davis hit his 52nd home run of the season for the Orioles in the loss.
