Last week we saw the Champions League group stage kick off with a plethora of games, this week we have some Capital One Cup games. It is a competition started in 1960 that is similar to the FA Cup, which allows significantly more teams to enter (758 entered in 2012-13) from all levels of soccer, the Capital One Cup only allows the 20 Premier League clubs and  72 Football League clubs to enter.

The current champion is Swansea City, who won their first title last year. Liverpool is the most dominant club having one the competition 8 times.

In this match up two English Premier League sides face off as Aston Villa hosts Tottenham Hotspur.

There are various factors going into this game that make winning an uphill battle for Tottenham, including the less than 48 hour turn around from their win on Sunday.

“This is an impossible game for us to play, but hopefully our team spirit and motivation can get us through,” Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas said, via ESPN FC. “It (the Capital One Cup) is not our absolute number one priority but I don’t think we have been given a fair chance to play in this competition this year.

“It could be possible for the players who played against Cardiff to play this game, but I am not sure I want to risk the players who played getting a hamstring injury which could take them six weeks to recover from when the Premier League is more important.
