The Detroit Lions offense just took a hit, wide receiver Nate Burleson was in an early morning car accident and broke his arm in two places. Burleson will undergo surgery to repair his arm, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
It was one of those, late nights that is technically an early morning. The good news is that no alcohol was involved and it was a single car accident, and most importantly Burleson wasn’t more seriously injured.
Nate Burleson was having a good season and coming off his best game since 2007. He caught 6 passes for 116 yards against the Redskins on Sunday. He has 19 receptions on the season for 239 yards. Wide receiver Ryan Broyles, who is coming off an injury, will take over in the slot.
[UPDATE]: From ESPN:
CBS Detroit is reporting the single-car crash occurred at 2:25 a.m. on I-696 in Farmington Hills, Mich. The website is also reporting that no ticket was issued.
“We will provide appropriate updates when more information on Burleson’s condition becomes available,” the team said in a statement.
