The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finally done it, theyāve decided to bench Josh Freeman and start Mike Glennon at quarterback. Freeman has been dreadful, completing 43 of 94 passes (45.7%) for 571 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. With those kind of numbers, why not let the rookie get in there and try his hand out.
The news comes as a bit of a shock because of head coach Greg Schianoās stance that he wasnāt changing quarterbacks. In fact, just earlier this week he reiterated that Freeman is the Bucs quarterback.
āNo, there wasnāt,ā Schiano said about any thoughts about benching Freeman for Glennon after Sundayās game.
āWhen you have a situation that you have control over and you donāt make it, then you are living on borrowed time,ā he said, via NFL.com.
There were rumors that Freeman was asking for a trade as well. Freeman denied those reports though.
