If Tampa Bay and Texas thought the White Sox were going to help them in the Wild Card chase, they need to think again. The Indians beat the White Sox for the 13th straight game by a score of 7-2 to remain in the second wild card, one game ahead of Texas and one behind Tampa for the first spot.

The White Sox got the early lead in the second when Avisail Garcia hit his seventh homer of the year. The Indians would take the lead in the bottom half. Lonnie Chisenhall would reach after beating out a double play attempt and moved to second on a wild pitch. Marcus Semien‘s error on Drew Stubbs ball allowed the run to score and Stubbs to reach. Michael Brantley drove in Stubbs with a single.

The Tribe would extend the lead in the fifth. With one out, Brantley doubled and Nick Swisher would hit his 21st homer of the season.

The Sox would get a run right back in the sixth. Alexei Ramirez and Garcia singled, knocking out Cleveland starter Danny Salazar. Bryan Shaw came in and gave up a single to Dayan Viciedo.

The Indians would come back in the bottom half. Asdrubal Cabrera singled and Jason Giambi walked. Pinch-hitter Mike Aviles bunted the runners over and Stubbs cashed one in on a sac fly.

Cabrera would drive in two more runs with a single in the seventh inning.

The Indians head to Minnesota to take on the Twins tomorrow night. Zach McAllister will take on Andrew Albers.
